The International Universal Health Coverage Day was instituted by the United Nations General Assembly on the 12th of December 2012 after the resolution was approved to encourage countries to work towards the idea of providing quality and affordable health care to everyone and in everywhere.
Universal Health Coverage has a purpose which is to ensure that people everywhere has access to essential health services that includes prevention, promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and palliation, it also ensures that these services are provided with quality and that the provision of the services does not cause hardship financially for the people.
Since the 12th of December 2017 when the International Universal Health Coverage Day was declared to be an annual event, the day has been used to create awareness of the importance of building strong and resilient health systems across the globe that can duly meet the needs of the people. Universal Health Coverage if worked on by the various stakeholders will help prevent untimely deaths to a large extent.
Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc) on this International Universal Health Coverage Day urge all Stakeholders, Government and Health care providers to work towards providing Universal Health Coverage for everyone. We believe that nations full of healthy people will make a peaceful world for everyone.
