We are pleased to introduce to you Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc).
The Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc), promoters of the Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum (MILPOPPROF) is a non-profit, non-political body of professional information managers birthed in the year 2007 in Lagos as the pioneer and only organization in the whole of Africa projecting Public Relations (PR) and Security Communications as effective tools for national security.
The objectives of PEACrEc include but are not limited to the promotion of peaceful co-existence amongst relevant stakeholders (with a focus on security and response agencies) using the instrumentality of public relations. These stakeholders are:
Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigerian Prisons Service, Federal and State Fire Services as well as other emergency and response agencies like National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigeria Maritime Safety Administration (NIMASA) and Nigerian Civil Aviation Agency(NCAA).
Today, PEACrEc through MILPOPPROF has been active with the participation of public relations representatives drawn from all security agencies in Nigeria. This forum has organized several seminars which date far back as 2008 aimed at capacity building and effective synergy among our stakeholders, schools and corporate organizations. However, the Centre’s Board of Trustees decided that all states of the federation should get a chapter of MILPOPPROF. Accordingly, the centre organized an annual programme tagged #WAFCON (West African Conference on Security Communication and Public Information Management) aimed at entrenching its objectives across the West African sub-region; the programme got endorsements of The Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS).
PEACrEc is endorsed fully by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), African Public Relations Association (APRA) and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). PEACrEc got accepted into the United Nations DESA Civil Society in January 2018, where proposals and inputs are provided by experts/stakeholders from different civil societies.
