International Youth Day is a day that is set aside by the United Nations to celebrate the role of young people around the world in causing change; the day brings to limelight the meaningful contributions youths to their societies through their actions and initiatives.
Young People are seen all over the world contributing to the growth of their nations and also globally. In the fight against the Covid19 pandemic, youths are among the largest numbers of people who are at the front lines so as to ensure the safety of other people’s lives working in different sectors of their engagements.
The theme for the International Youth Day year 2020 is “Youth Engagements for Global Action”. The theme for this year emphasizes how young people’s engagement in their local communities, nationally and internationally has enriched several institutions and processes, this year’s celebration of IYD also seeks to take a look at how youths involvement in institutional politics can be improved greatly.
Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc) celebrates all young people from all walks of life on this celebration of International Youth Day 2020. We request that Governments, Youth-led Organizations, and all Stakeholders work towards creating an enabling environment of safety, productivity, and opportunity for youths to express their abilities and potentials because we believe that youths are of great importance to building peace and secured societies.
