Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum (MILPOPPROF) Lagos State chapter chose to celebrate International Women’s Day for the year 2020 as part of their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2020. The special event was attended by Public Relations Officers of the various Security agencies across Lagos.

The special celebration of the International Women’s Day by MILPOPPROF was hosted by Rapid Response Squad at the headquarters at Alausa-Ikeja where a lecture was delivered by Yeye Adenike Agnes Shobajo who is the MD of AS+ Communications, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and a former Vice Chairman of Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Yeye Adenike Agnes Shobajo while delivering the Lecture with the theme: “The National Significance of Women in Uniform and their role in Security Architecture of Nigeria” mentioned that women need to be included more in the different sectors of the society including the security agencies. In her words, she said: “A responsible Corporate organization including the Armed Forces must continue to close the gap by giving equal opportunity to women folks to enable us to contribute our quota to the development of the country”.

Yeye Shobajo, who is a Female Politician and Successful Careerwoman during the lecture encourage junior female officers not to misuse the opportunity they are been given but to respect and submit to their senior male superiors. She also implored them to manage their home affairs and work-life well, she said: “Position yourself for promotion as a woman”. 

Questions from a Female Officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service

Col Kingsley Umoh, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre mentioned during the special event that education is an important tool in addressing the issue of gender parity and more female inclusion in the different sectors including the Military, Journalism, banking, engineering and so on. He applauded women for their tremendous contribution to the workspace and the society at large.
