War Against Plastic Wastes is a project launched by Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc) to tackle one of the major causes of environmental damage in Nigeria especially Lagos. Tons of plastic wastes are generated in Lagos state and other parts of Nigeria every day and if these plastics are not properly disposed and recycled, it leads to blocked drainages that cause flooding and other damages to the environment.

Chairman, Board of Trustees, Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc) encouraged the young men and women who came out to volunteer as Plastic Wastes Warriors to do more for their societies than thinking of their own selves alone. He said our society is in need of youths who will instead of staying at home doing nothing, come out and take up the challenge of changing some things about their environment.

PEACrEc Volunteers got accolades from onlooking Lagosians who were wondering why they were picking up plastics from the roads and especially blocked drainages in the Oshodi environs. The launch of the War Against Plastics Wastes project is the beginning of a series of volunteerism to tackle various environmental menaces both in Lagos and in Nigeria as a whole.
