Translation, over the years, has helped to breakthrough language barriers; it has and is still helping to improve interactions among people

30TH SEPTEMBER: INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION DAY

The General Assembly of the United Nations on the 24th of May 2017 declared 30th September annually as the International Translation Day with a mission to appreciate the efforts of Language professionals in uniting nations as they perform their duties effectively by translating words from one language to another language.

Translation, over the years, has helped to breakthrough language barriers; it has and is still helping to improve interactions among people from different countries. Translation aids the enhancement of knowledge in people as it aids the reading of books written in a particular language to be read in several other countries with different languages.

The International Translation Day celebrates professionals who have used their abilities and skills in translation to facilitate dialogue, cooperation and understanding which in turn has contributed greatly to the development of world unity and security. The importance of translation cannot be underestimated both in international public discourse and for interpersonal communication.

Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc) celebrates all Language professionals on this International Translation Day. Language Professionals will continue to be useful in building understanding and development all over the world. We trust in the ability of these people to assist in strengthening world peace and security.
