AUGUST 19TH: WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY (WHD)

The United Nations chose the 19th of August every year as the World Humanitarian Day to celebrate unsung heroes who are aid workers. These set of people through their heroic acts have helped in managing crisis in different parts of the world.

The World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is a day to appreciate the selfless services rendered by aid workers during crises, wars, and all other evil happenings in the world. It is a day to pay tribute to the humanitarian services rendered by these people in ensuring the safety and well-being of others.

World Humanitarian Day 2019 is tagged “Women Humanitarians” as the focus for this year is to appreciate the efforts of women that are aid workers who have sacrificed so much to attend to the needs of others even at the expense of their own lives.

WHD 2019 is looking into the works of women aid workers who go all the way to difficult locations to ensure the safety of people. On this day, the campaign will also be focused on all humanitarians, so as to ensure that they are duly protected as they render their services to humanity.

Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre (PEACrEc) celebrates all humanitarians especially Women aid workers on this day and we request that all leaders should ensure the protection of aid workers all over the world especially in Nigeria because their services have and will continue to contribute immensely to the peace of our societies.
