SEPTEMBER 5TH: INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CHARITY

The world is full of people who are in need of different kinds, these set of people are referred to as the ‘needy’, the ‘poor’, ‘destitute’, helpless and so on. The International Day of Charity celebrated on the 5th of September every year is a special day to remember these people.

The needy or the poor have varying needs that include; shelter (a house), clothing, Nutrition (access to good food), medical/health care, good drinking water, education and so on. It goes beyond just these needs as the orphaned children are even in need of parents and a place to call home.

The United Nations following the 2030 agenda on Sustainable Development stated that there is a need to eradicate poverty as it is the biggest challenge of the world today. In Africa, there are families who cannot afford two square meals a day and are constantly in need of basic things of life.
