JUNE 29TH: INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE TROPICS

The 29th of June is a day chosen by the United Nations to celebrate the diversity of Tropics. Tropics are parts of the earth that are warm and usually experience frequent seasonal changes in daily temperature.

The tropical region makes about 40% of the total surface of the earth and countries in such area experience rainfall in a higher degree than other parts of the earth and is usually faced with challenges which include; demographic changes, logging, deforestation, urbanization and climate change.

Tropics are places full of a high number of varieties of plants and animals which makes the region desirable. Tropics also have diversity in language and also cultural diversity. The region is however faced with a high rate of poverty and undernourishment than other parts of the world. These underlie most of major conflicts in the tropical regions
