"Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised bythe ingenuity of man

2ND OCTOBER: INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE

Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence once said: "Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man".

The International Day of Non-violence is celebrated every year on October 2nd, which is the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. The General Assembly of the United Nations came to a resolution to establish the International Day of Non-violence on the 15th of June 2007. The resolution came with the purpose of passing across the message of non-violence to the world.

Non-violence preaches being harmless to yourself and to others under every form of condition, it admonishes total abstention from violence. Non-violence has proven to be greatest force at the disposal of the human race in achieving change. Campaigns that are non-violent have more potential to achieve success than violent ones.
